Phoenix is blessed to have some great dining options, no matter what you’re looking for. Whether it’s world-class fine dining at Confluence, some of the best Italian food found anywhere outside the Italian peninsula at Andreoli Italian Grocer, or the awe-inspiring, vegetable-rich plates at FnB Restaurant, or the delicious food at Coyote Mexican Cuisine, the dining experience you can have here is one of the best in the country.
But what if the night you want to head out for a bite to eat will include a few additional mouths? Specifically, the mouths belonging to those little humans that live with you?
Unfortunately, not all restaurants cater to – or even allow – children. Which can be a bummer for all involved if that’s discovered when you arrive at your destination.
Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! Here are some great restaurants, diners, eateries, and cafes that are kid-friendly in the Phoenix area!
This place is awesome for the comic book geek in the family. (Don’t worry, for non-comic book geeks, the food more than makes up for it). With larger-than-life superheroes and supervillains all around the restaurant, there won’t be a shortage of opportunities to find your favorite character and pose for a selfie.
The restaurant was born in Mexico, and there are now 36 locations in our southern neighbor. This one in Phoenix is the first one to cross the border. Their menu has all the pub-fare classics like chicken wings, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and fries. And you can count on a place like this having a great kids’ menu!
It doesn’t get much cooler than cheering for your knight in shining armor as he battles other knights to win the queen’s favor, all while enjoying delicious food and drink with your friends and family!
Located in Scottsdale, Medieval Times makes for a great night out with the family. The imposing castle structure can be spotted from far away – get there early to make sure you have time for pictures outside as well as inside (the gates open 60 minutes prior to showtime)!
t’s hard to decide what’s better at Rustler’s Rooste – the steaks or the view! Seriously, both are amazing and, together, make for quite the dining experience.
An extensive selection of ready-to-cook meats will keep the adults happy, and the Slide Riderz Membership for kids – where they are eligible to eat for free all year long – will keep the adults’ wallets happy as well.
With an expansive seating area with open fire pits for grilling meat, a night at Rustler’s Rooste with your entire roost is sure to be super fun!
This charming locale brings a little bit of sophistication to Arizona from our cousins across the pond. It’s great for hosting not only children’s parties, but also bridal showers, baby showers, and even weddings!
Located in a house built in 1906, the coffee shop serves all things caffeinated, accompanied by small, healthy British snacks. Why don’t you try their iced vanilla late with a scone – yum!
With multiple family-friendly reviews, if you want “common food done uncommonly well” Joe’s Farm Grill is the place to go. Quality ingredients are the cornerstone of their great menu. They even offer a birthday meal gift when you dine in on your birthday (with I.D. proof, of course)!
Bird lovers will squawk with delight at the Perch Brewery. Not only do they have 30 craft beers on tap and a lovely food menu (fish and chips, burgers, and make your own pizza, just to name a few), the place is surrounded by over 50 brightly colored (and chatty) birds. Each bird is a rescue and has a special story on how it ended up here.
Throw in the panoramic view of downtown Chandler from their rooftop bar, and you have a wonderful evening ahead of you!
This delicious restaurant is famous for the extensive healthy food items on its menu that are complimented by a thoughtful beverage selection.
The restaurant’s stunning patio and fireplace make it an ideal place to hang out with the family for a couple of hours for a lazy Saturday brunch – get a taco platter and a pitcher of their delicious white sangria!
With three locations in the Phoenix area (Arcadia, Tempe, and Gilbert), The Porch is a great place to spend a couple of hours on a weekend, watching the game while the kids play the various games available in the patio area.
They are also available to cater or host your private event!
Barro’s is a great spot for kids to run around in the large play area that includes a fake kitchen!
Foodwise, they have every type of pizza you can imagine, and if they don’t have what you’re looking for, you can custom build your own pie from the over 30 ingredients available. Their chicken wings lineup is also nothing to sneeze at – they have more than 20 flavors! And if pizza or wings aren’t your thing, they have pasta, sandwiches, salads, and a whole variety of sides to choose from.
Additionally, if your kiddo happens to not like pizza, the yummy kids’ menu is sure to please the little ones as well.
The splash pad and playground make this a great place for kids, while the quiet and serene backyard patio dining area is ideal for adults to relax, eat, and drink. Open for almost a decade, Luci’s is deeply involved and invested in the community, where you can find homages to the five C’s of Arizona spread throughout the property: Copper, Cattle, Citrus, Cotton, and Climate.
Be sure to try one of their freshly squeezed juices and a sample from their ice cream bar!
We are big fans of Main Event in Tempe - we just participated in a block party there in July! This place is so much fun for the whole family. They have games, arcades, laser tag, and much more to keep the kids entertained for hours. Their extensive food and drink menu definitely has something for everyone. Main Event is also the ideal place to host your kid’s next birthday party!
